Engagement photos.

I love to take engagement photos. I’ve done quite a few engagement photo shoots, and here are three answers to some common questions when couples want to get the best engagement photos possible:

1) Dress to impress. Face it, clothes matter, especially when getting your engagement photos. What type of clothes should you get? Get brand new, solid color clothes. Andrew and Jolyn (the couple in the photos above) did a great job: bright colors, solid colors, and brand new clothes. Of course you can have a different style to suit your personality, but just make sure the clothes are new and solid colors. Trust me, it makes a difference.

2) Get your beauty sleep. You want to make sure you’re well rested before you take your engagement photos. You want to be refreshed and beaming in front of the camera, and that’s a whole lot easier when you’ve had a good night rest.

3) Try to match. Yup, you’re a duo now, and it pays to dress that way, too. When you’re picking your clothes for the engagement photos, try to find clothes that have complimentary colors and themes. Again, Jolyn and Andrew did a great job in finding the right complimentary outfits.

Those are three tried and true principles for making sure your engagement photos are the best they can be. And of course, you can’t forget to hire a creative and capable photographer. And yes, I’d love to be the photographer that takes your photo :-)
