Even in winter

March 3rd, 2006 · 2 Comments · Daily musings, Photos

I was walking along the Provo river the other day, and I saw a couple getting their picture taken by a photographer. It was an interesting scene to me because of the different relationships that were being portrayed together. There was the couple, the photographer, and nature setting the scene for the moment. Usually, most of us are drawn to nature and its beauty; we recognize something in it that feels right to us. It feels so essential and innately pleasing when we’re around it. So, I’d say it makes sense that we’d want that element of beauty to be around us when we get our pictures taken.

I guess that’s part of the challenge. If you can bring out of nature it’s inherent artistry and then couple that with the unique qualities of the individuals, then you have achieved something that is both lasting and fulfilling to all that participated. Within this particular photo, everyone involved managed to capture an instant that will bring smiles and warmth to those who happen to see it. Amazingly, the flower that has faded and fallen to the ground long ago is still very much alive. It is there, smiling and living with the couple in that instant; together, all form a melody that lifts the heart and sings to the soul, even in winter.

I couldn’t believe how beautiful this was said! You are able to completely describe what is so special about including nature’s beauty with photography. It makes so much sense when read. It was said so beautifully and effortlessly that I wanted to read it over and over! My favorite part was when you said that the flower is still living in that picture even after that flower is long dead and gone. I loved it!!!
