One of the facts of life when using a computer for your work is that computers crash. That can be a real problem if you depend on your computer for your work. The only way to manage those crashes is to get a backup system. And right now, there are some great sites that allow online backup.
If you’re looking for a site that allows you to do online backup, here’s a few that I’ve used and would recommend. The awesome thing is that some of these sites offer to backup all your data for less than $5 a month!
I’ve used quite a few backup hard drives that costs $100-$300 of bucks a piece, but now I can use these sites to backup all my stuff on my computer, and it’s always available online no matter where I go, or what computer I have.
Here are 5 online backup sites I would recommend.
Flickr.com

I’ve used this site for quite some time, but only recently have I used it to back up photos and data. The coolest feature is that flickr also doubles as a social network where you can connect with many talented photographers.
SugarSync.com

I love this site. Sugarsync does something that no other site does, it syncs all your data across any computer that you have! I have 3 macs in my house, and now with sugarsync, I don’t have to save and send my files via email to work on my laptop, I just use this site and I can get access to my files whenever. And it works as a online backup, too! Awesome.
Mozy.com

The main reason I use mozy is because it has unlimited storage. I take a lot of photos of family, and I finally have a place where I can store it all.
Photoshelter.com

I had used photoshelter for months, until I found sugarsync.com. But it was a great service, and it’s specifically marketed to photographers. You can also setup an account where you can sell your photos as well as back them up. I switched services because there wasn’t enough storage space, unlike Mozy and Sugarsync, that allow 100s of gigs worth of data to backup.
Backblaze.com

Backblaze is a new service, and I haven’t tried this one out yet, but it looks promising. I love the design and I love the user interface a bit more than Mozy. It’s not available yet for mac, but I’m excited to try it out. Prices start at unlimited storage for $5/month.
